Prefectural Route 298 in Ogata Village, Akita Prefecture\u2014commonly known as \u201cCherry Blossom and Rapeseed Flower Road\u201d\u2014transforms into \u201cSunflower Road\u201d in the summer. Every year around early August, sunflowers begin to bloom vibrantly along the 11-kilometer stretch. Over 1,500 hydrangea plants, cultivated over 15 years by Shuun Konaka, the assistant priest of Unsh\u014dji Temple, blanket the temple grounds in a sea of blue. Beyond the hydrangeas, the sea of Oga stretches out, offering a view unique to this location. Peak bloom typically occurs in late June, with the best viewing period lasting from mid-June to early July.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n
